A masterpiece of Moorish architecture in white stone, topped with a striking turquoise dome. This Taj Mahal of the Mediterranean has a commanding cliff-top location, surrounded with 4200 square meters of coluorful gardens, lush with palm and cypress trees, creating an oasis in which to relax. Step inside and a world of luxury spills out in front of you, with high ceilings and hidden alcoves, classic furnishings and sumptuous carpets. Follow the wood-panelled hallway to the grand living and lounge areas, beyond which is the Grand Salon. Upstairs are five spacious bedrooms, each as sumptuous as the next. The master bedroom, Room 1001, is so-called after the ancient book of Arabic folk tales, One Thousand and One Nights, which features a Persian king and his wife Sheherezade, after whom the villa is named. Leading off it is a large and luxurious bathroom, with its own whirlpool bath and balcony.
Villa Sheherezade is surrounded by vast terraces and lush gardens, an outdoor swimming pool and whirlpool, a rocky private beach, and a private pier to tender boats. Services include lavish a-la-carte breakfast, 24-hour butler service, and private airport transfers upon arrival/departure. Yacht and boat charter, a private luxury car, a private chef, security service, massage and beauty treatments, as well as laundry and dry cleaning are available upon request.
Regarded as one of the finest luxury villas in Dubrovnik, the five-star Villa Agave is stunningly located on a clifftop, overlooking the Adriatic Sea, with wonderful views of Dubrovnik’s Old Town and Lokrum Island. The very first guest to stay here was Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey, who fell in love with the villa’s character and charm. The villa rests on the remains of the 13th-century chapel of St Lazarus, its ruins still visible, with part of the villa’s meditation room believed to have two of the chapel’s original walls. The stone walls in one of the bedrooms hark back to a time when the villa was a traditional tavern.
The heart of the five-star holiday villa in Dubrovnik is the spacious living room and dining room, set around an open fireplace. Exposed wooden stairs transport you to three beautiful bedrooms, with original wood floors and timber ceiling-beams. The master bedroom features separate bathrooms – one with a vintage self-standing bath – offering wonderful views over Lokrum Island. With a 24-hour butler on hand throughout your stay and a private cliffside beach, where you can enjoy a personalised treatment by one of the therapists from the spa for which Villa Agave is renowned.
Situated on the beautiful peninsula of Lapad, the hotel’s dramatic cliffside location, below the aromatic, pine-covered Petka woods, offers spectacular views in every direction. Just a short distance from Dubrovnik Old Town, each of the recently fully renovated 308 contemporary rooms and suites all have private balconies and beautiful sea views.
The facilities at the hotel include-four swimming pools, one of which is indoors, a private beach, tennis courts, fabulous snorkelling and a PADI diving centre, as well as a leafy jogging path and walking routes through the woods behind the hotel. The Hotel Dubrovnik Palace was also the proud holder for two consecutive years of two World Travel Awards: Croatia’s Leading Hotel (2005/2006) and Croatia’s Leading Spa Resort (2005-2007, 2011 /2012).
The best time to visit Dubrovnik is between early June and late September when temperatures on the coast and around the islands range from the mid-twenties to the low thirties.
